We're looking for an Accountant who thrives in a varied environment and enjoys being close to the business. With operations in both the North and South Islands, and expanding business units in Indonesia and the Philippines, this is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a diverse range of business activities, entities and commercial challenges. The position has a key role in supporting business performance while continuing to develop your commercial and technical expertise.

The role will take ownership of delivering the day-to-day finance activities of the business. You need to be competent at preparing journals with backup, completing reconciliations, managing month-end processes and reporting, supporting the annual audits, overseeing tax and statutory compliance, while also working with the operations teams to assist them to understand and manage their PL.

MB Century is also embarking on a new ERP implementation, providing you with an opportunity to be involved in shaping future finance system setup, reporting capability and business processes.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Strategy, Commercial & Finance, your key responsibilities in this hands-on role include:

• Monthly financial and management reporting

• Budgeting, forecasting and financial planning

• Cashflow and working capital management

• Taxation compliance including GST, FBT, PAYE and other statutory obligations

• Coordinating the annual audits and annual Financial Statements

• Financial analysis and commercial support for business decisions

• Supporting tenders, projects and operational performance

• Maintaining robust financial controls and processes

• Working closely with our Accounts Administrator to ensure efficient finance operations

• Driving continuous improvement in systems, reporting and financial processes

About You

You will be a Chartered Accountant who enjoys being close to the numbers and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality financial outcomes. You thrive on variety, enjoy the pace and challenge of a dynamic business, and want to be part of an organisation where your contribution is visible, valued and makes a genuine difference.

You'll bring:

• CA qualification and current professional membership

• Several years’ experience in a commercial accounting environment

• Strong financial and management accounting expertise

• Experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting

• Sound taxation and compliance knowledge

• A practical, hands-on approach

• The ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the business

Experience within engineering, construction, infrastructure, industrial services, energy or other project-based industries will be advantageous.
