MB Century is looking for an experienced HSE Advisor to join our Health, Safety and Environment team. This is a practical, site-facing role supporting a varied mix of work across hydro and geothermal projects, specialist fabrication, machining, industrial coatings, reservoir services and, depending on your background, geothermal drilling operations.

About the role

This is a varied HSE Advisor role with a mix of site and office-based work. You will provide practical HSE support to operational teams, help maintain and improve our systems, and support critical risk management across the business.

Depending on your skills and experience, the role may also include support to our geothermal drilling operations, including rostered site coverage.

You will be involved in:

• Providing practical HSE advice and support to operational teams

• Leading HSE delivery across hydro, geothermal, industrial services and project work

• Strengthening critical risk controls across high-risk activities

• Managing incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions

• Driving audits, inspections and client HSE requirements

• Developing, reviewing and maintaining HSE management system documentation

• Leading inductions, toolbox talks, emergency planning and improvement initiatives

About you

You will be a practical and experienced HSE professional who’s comfortable working close to operations and building strong relationships across the sites. Above all, we’re looking for someone who’s credible on site, confident with risk, and effective in their engagement across all HSE stakeholders.

You will bring:

• Proven HSE experience in a practical, operational work environment

• A strong working knowledge of New Zealand HSE legislation and expectations

• Experience with risk management, incident reporting and investigations

• Strong communication and influencing skills

• Confidence engaging with people at all levels across the site operations

• Excellent written skills, including reports, procedures or safety documentation

• A calm, solutions-focused approach

• A current New Zealand driver licence

Experience in the following would be an advantage:

• Geothermal, drilling, oil and gas, mining or broader energy sector operations or heavy industrial, construction, infrastructure or maintenance environments

• Proven capability with high-risk work, critical controls, permits, emergency planning and hazardous operations

• ICAM, learning teams or other investigation methodologies

• NZQA Level 4 or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, NEBOSH or equivalent
